MANHATTAN, N.Y. (PIX11) -- Will we see those eerie orange skies again in the Tri-State area?

It was June of 2023 when we first experienced the deep orange skies and dangerous air quality due to wildfires burning in Canada.

Dozens of wildfires are once again burning in Canada. Smoke from the fires could reach the Tri-State area as early as Tuesday. Meteorologists say may see some smoke or haze in our sky between Tuesday and Thursday. It could also lead to colorful sunsets, but the air quality should remain good to satisfactory.

Zachary Iscol, the New York City Emergency Management Commissioner, told PIX11 News that should things get worse, "we'll have a distribution plan to get masks out to firehouses and police precincts and libraries where people can pick them."
