CHARLESTON, W.Va (WCHS) — Charleston City Council voted to approve the City Center Improvement District's budget for the fiscal year.
"What it really has done is improved Slack Plaza and that whole area and those businesses that are around there. I think if you look at the city service center and the downtown businesses down there, there's events practically every night and i think it's really fantastic," Charleston city councilmember, Mary Beth Hoover said.
Although the total budget is nearly 1.3 million dollars, around 92 thousand of those funds run through the City of Charleston.
City officials said this business improvement district has given a facelift to Charleston in areas that have needed it most.
"The bid here in the Charleston area is based around the city center at Slack Pl
