MONROE, N.C. – We are getting our first look at the teen who died in a shootout with Monroe Police over the weekend. Officers shot and killed Joshua Sikes following a chase after he shot an officer early Saturday morning.

Police say they spotted the 18-year-old in a suspicious vehicle along Old Charlotte Highway near Rocky River Road around 1:45am. When officers tried to pull him over, he took off. The chase ended after officers deployed stop sticks. That’s when police say Sikes shot an officer multiple times. At last check, she is in stable condition.

Investigators have also tied Sikes to another shooting; this one is in Indian Trail. Officers responded to Astoria Drive hours after Sikes’ run-in with Monroe Police. They found a person shot to death. Investigators say Sikes shot and kill
