LOS ANGELES -- Through eight innings, Shohei Ohtani 's moonshot of a solo blast into the back of the visitors' bullpen in the seventh was all the Dodgers had to show for themselves at the plate.

Down to their last three outs, the Dodgers clawed their way back into the ballgame against Mets closer Edwin Díaz to force extra innings. But Tanner Scott couldn't keep the game knotted in the top of the 10th and the offense couldn't come all the way back in a 4-3 loss on Monday night.

Díaz had not been scored on in his past 13 appearances, which included two against the Dodgers in their visit to Citi Field just over a week ago. He didn't allow a hit in 10 of those outings.

Tommy Edman led off the ninth with a single, then stole second to give the Dodgers the tying run in scoring position. H
