FOLLANSBEE — Follansbee Council learned Monday it has received the first of multiple disbursements from a settlement reached following a class action lawsuit against the makers of firefighting foam and other products found to contain hazardous chemicals.

In 2023, city officials agreed to have the city be a party to the suit, which alleged manufacturers of products containing per- and polyflouroalkyl chemicals, or PFAS substances, were aware they posed significant health risks before they sold
