SANDPOINT — After 36 years in local law enforcement, Sandpoint Police Department Captain Rick Bailey will retire June 16.

In his career, Bailey spent six years with Bonner County Sheriff’s office and 30 years with Sandpoint Police.

According to a city press release, Bailey has been a leader and mentor during his tenure in Sandpoint, and has educated numerous personnel as a Field Training Officer and firearms instructor.

His exceptional strategic thinking and commitment to public safety, city officials added, has fostered a culture of excellence within the department.

City Hall will host a public open house celebrating Bailey’s career June 16, 4-6 p.m.
