Carjacking suspects led police on a chase that ended when a squad car plowed into a tree on the Northwest Side Monday night.
Officers were on patrol in a marked police vehicle around 8:40 p.m. when they saw a vehicle that was being stolen in a carjacking, police said.
Officers activated their emergency equipment and attempted to pull the vehicle over but it didn’t stop and continued driving away.
As officers maneuvered around a different vehicle in traffic they hit a tree in the 5200 block of West Palmer Street, officials said.
Three officers were hospitalized and listed in good condition, police said.
No one was in custody and Area 5 detectives are investigating.
