Three British nationals are facing the death penalty in Indonesia after being caught smuggling drugs into the popular holiday island of Bali.

Jonathan Christopher Collyer, 28, and Lisa Ellen Stocker, 29, were arrested at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport on February 1 after customs officers halted them at an X-ray machine.

Prosecutor I Made Dipa Umbara told the District Court in Denpasar that suspicions arose around sachets of Angel Delight powdered dessert mix discovered in their luggage.

Lab test results found that seventeen of the sachets contained 993.56 grams of cocaine, worth an estimated six billion rupiah (£272,000).

The pair - from Gillingham, Kent - have been behind bars and awaiting trial since.
