Officer caused crash responding to threat of dangerous spy fleeing the UK
A serving police officer who caused a crash that resulted in serious injuries to a woman in Bristol was responding to the threat of a notorious wanted man Daniel Khalife leaving the UK.
Trained Avon and Somerset Police driver PC Daniel Fortune drove at nearly 70 miles-an-hour through a red light before smashing into the victim's car.
The emergency he was responding to was issued in relation to escaped prisoner and former soldier Khalife in order to make sure he did not leave the UK.
Khalife was later arrested in Greater London after having escaped from prison strapped to the underside of a delivery truck with a pair of kitchen trousers. He was subsequently jailed for 14 years for spying for Iran and his esc
