The provincial police watchdog says it is investigating after the death of two men at a home in Burlington, Ont. early Tuesday morning.

The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) said in a news release Halton police responded to a call at a home on Cornerstone Drive in Burlington.

When police arrived the SIU says a 28-year-old man "fled upstairs" where he was found with self-inflicted injuries.

"Officers provided life-saving measures and called EMS," the SIU said. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

A second man was found dead at the scene, the SIU said. A woman was taken to hospital with "non-serious injuries."

Halton police said in a post to X Tuesday morning that the police watchdog "has invoked its mandate" following a call to the area of Cornerstone Drive in Burlington.
