VALPARAISO — A 24-year-old Highland man, who has a history of violent offenses, faces a charge of murder after being arrested overnight by Valparaiso police, according to a report from the Porter County Jail.

The man, who The Times is not yet naming, was booked into the jail at 1:15 a.m. Tuesday, according to a jail report.

A spokesman for Valparaiso police said early Tuesday that information may be available later in the morning.

The Porter County Coroner's Office did not immediately reply to a request for the name of deceased.

Valparaiso police had posted on social media Monday night that officers were on scene in the 1900 block of Chicago Street with a criminal investigation.
