Deputies: Man facing multiple charges after pursuit in Kill Devil Hills

KILL DEVIL HILLS, N.C. (WAVY) -- A man is facing several charges after a pursuit in Kill Devil Hills, deputies said.

According to the Dare County Sheriff's Office, on May 31 around 1 a.m., deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling westbound in Kill Devil Hills.

A pursuit began after the driver of the vehicle failed to stop. Shortly after the pursuit began, the vehicle crashed into a ditch. The driver then fled on foot.

After an investigation, deputies were able to secure an arrest warrant for 40-year-old Michael A. Harkabusic from Pennsylvania. Harkabusic was then charged with the following: • Resisting public officer • No operating license • Open container alcohol violation • Fail to heed light or siren • Fail to stop at sign/flashing red light • E
