A joint operation with the Vidor Police Department leading the way and other state and federal agencies assisting, is shutting down all ten game rooms in the city, according to information Vidor Interim City Manager Rod Carroll provided to KFDM/Fox 4 News.
Officers began hitting every game room at nine on Monday morning. The first one is off Highway 90 and Sergeant.
Carroll says officers are seizing eight-liner machines and computer boards.
He tells KFDM in the near future, the city will discuss approving an ordinance to ban game rooms.
Orange and other cities have done so, following a court ruling in north Texas that opens the door for cities and counties to close game rooms.
Carroll says the game rooms are violating the law and offering cash and cash prizes exceeding the $5 limit. H
