Warm summertime temperatures made their way onto the Central Coast just in time for the 82nd Elks Rodeo and Parade starting on Wednesday and running through Sunday.

Community involvement begins at lest two months in advance, as several young ladies throw their hats into the ring to be the next Elks Rodeo Queen.

The girls, representing various nonprofit groups, begin their tireless campaigns to raise money for their organizations along with the Elks Youth Recreation, who support youth programs throughout area.

This year my wife Karen and I had tickets to watch the parade on Saturday morning from in front of the nostalgic Santa Maria Inn. It turned out to be a beautiful sunny morning, as the parade kicked off at 10 a.m.
