WASHINGTON — More than 30 food trucks were towed over the weekend in a crackdown on licensing along the National Mall.
Food trucks constantly line the National Mall. Between 100 and 110 vendors are licensed to sell there , Tiffany Crowe, the director of D.C. Department of Licensing and Consumer Protection, told WUSA9.
But not all of them are licensed and permitted to be there, causing both health safety and financial concerns for visitors. On Friday, 32 unlicensed food trucks were towed, five junk vehicles were removed and 46 citations were issued.
The enforcement operation was an effort from the DLCP, along with U.S. Park Police, D.C. Fire and EMS, D.C. Police, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the D.C. Departments of Health and Public Works and the Smithsonian Institute.
