ROCHESTER, Minn. — The City of Rochester Parks & Recreation Department is celebrating the 50th anniversary of AccessABLE Recreation , a program dedicated to providing inclusive activities for individuals of all abilities.
AccessABLE Recreation started in 1975 with a few activities like arts and crafts, swimming, and summer camps. It now serves more than 1,700 people annually with a variety of programs including sports, music, dances, and holiday events.
"Our goal has always been to help people grow through play," said AccessABLE Recreation Coordinator Sue Miller. "We want everyone to have fun, make friends and build skills that help them in everyday life."
