A man has been arrested and charged with shooting within an occupied dwelling and child neglect after the death of his daughter.

Police were called just before 10 a.m. to the 700 block of South Harrison Street for the report of an armed party. On scene they found Alicia Ellis, 22, of Richmond, down on the floor of an apartment with a gunshot wound.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Alonzo Ellis, 55, of Richmond, was later arrested and charged. Police said additional charges are pending.
