WASHINGTON — As the big weekend for WorldPride approaches, small businesses are preparing for the crowds. The owners of Adams Morgan's new Her Diner are excited to support the community that has uplifted them.
Co-owner Kelly Laczko managed the Duplex Diner for years before taking it over to build her dream with her wife, Thida.
“[We] used to call it gay cheers," Laczko said.
That dream manifested into Her Diner, opening about six months ago.
"It feels like family, and so it's super important for me now to be able to give back and create a space that everyone can come to and feel included and safe," she said.
