A significant migration from California to Texas has been underway since 2018 , with roughly 100,000 people making the move each year in search of a better life. Businesses are relocating , as are individuals — my family included. After two years in California, we sought a fresh start in Austin, unknowingly joining a wider movement.

California is beautiful with national parks, sun-kissed beaches, and Hollywood glamour. It also boasts a progressive reputation, yet its environmental contradictions are stark.
