LUBBOCK, Texas -- A Lubbock legend and a friend to everyone, Joyce "Sally" Strouth, known as "Sunshine Sally," has passed away on June 1 at 92 years old, according to social media posts from her family and loved ones.

A beloved figure of the Hub City, Sunshine Sally was the star of a kids' television program that shared smiles on KLBK Channel 13 starting in 1976. The show aired every weekday at 9 a.m., with a set made of a home, a tree and a mailbox.

In a 2018 interview with EverythingLubbock.com, Strouth said she couldn't believe people still remembered the show.

"It just brings tears to my eyes," Strouth said.
