Seoul, South Korea — Democratic Party candidate Lee Jae-myung was elected president of South Korea in a snap election sparked by the impeachment of the country's former leader, Yoon Suk Yeol . As of early Wednesday, Lee had a lead over his conservative rival Kim Moon-soo that was mathematically impossible to surpass.
