KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The Overland Park Police Department announced on Tuesday that a 24-year-old killed in a weekend crash was officially identified.

According to OPPD, the crash took place on Saturday, May 31, just after 11:30 p.m. Officers were called to the area of Shawnee Mission Parkway and Metcalf Avenue in response to a deadly crash.

Police said a car had been driving northbound on Metcalf and exiting onto eastbound Shawnee Mission Parkway when it lost control, drove off the road and ran into a tree.

It was reported that the driver and two passengers were taken to KU Medical Center with injuries; however, the right rear passenger, later identified as 24-year-old Narender Jalla of Overland Park, was pronounced dead at the scene.
