FANNING SPRINGS, Fla. (WCJB) - Deputies with the Levy County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) said a man who had recently moved to the area drowned at Fanning Springs on Monday.
Deputies said they responded to the spring swimming area after getting reports of a drowning.
When deputies and EMS arrived, the 59-year-old man was already pulled out of the water and onto the dock; however, authorities said he could not be resuscitated.
Deputies said the man was swimming when he went under and did not come back up.
It appeared he had suffered a medical emergency.
Witnesses who knew the man told deputies the man was hurt in an accident about four days prior when he was working on a car, and it fell on him.
The man did not get medical attention, and authorities believe the medical event he suffered wh
