REDDING, Calif. - The Shasta County Sheriff's Office Major Crimes Unit arrested a Redding man they say attempted to meet a minor for sex.

Authorities say that detectives with the Major Crimes Unit used an undercover decoy posing as a 13-year-old girl on a online platform.

The suspect, identified as 55-year-old Phillip Andersen of Redding, allegedly sent explicit messages to the decoy in May. According to the Shasta County Sheriff's Office, Andersen tried to arrange a meeting with the minor for sexual purposes.

On May 28, Andersen arrived at a predetermined meeting location and was taken into custody by law enforcement. Authorities say that detectives found evidence suggesting Andersen intended to have sexual relations with the minor and provide her with illegal drugs.
