A new poll shows that 84 percent of Detroit voters surveyed approve of Mayor Mike Duggan's performance in office.

The Detroit News and WDIV poll, conducted by the Glengariff Group between May 27 and 29, surveyed 500 participants. It found that 84 percent either strongly or somewhat approved of the job Duggan has done as mayor, while 7 percent said they either strongly or somewhat disapproved, according to the Detroit News. The remaining 9 percent said they didn’t know or declined to answer.

The survey has a margin of error of plus or minus 4.4 percentage points.

The poll is surely to be seen as encouraging for Duggan, who, after three terms in office, is preparing for a gubernatorial campaign as an Independent candidate.
