ALTOONA, Iowa —
The former owners of Iowa's Adventureland Park have settled with the family of an 11-year-old boy who died on a ride at the theme park.
Michael Jaramillo, 11, of Marion, Iowa, died in 2021 when the raft he was in on the Raging River ride overturned, trapping him under the water. His 15-year-old brother spent weeks in a medically induced coma and survived. Advertisement
David Jaramillo Sr., Michael's father, reflected on his son's death in 2022, saying, "I'm very blessed to have my son for 11 years. He belongs to God first. So, he just went back to where he came from."
Jaramillo's family was suing the former owners of Adventureland, accusing them of not training workers and making unauthorized modifications to the waterways and rafts on the ride.
