LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A hazardous waste center in Lincoln is extending its hours for the summer, city officials announced Tuesday.

HazToGo, located at 5101 N. 48th St., will now be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesday. Those hours will extend through August.

The center is also open on the third Saturday of each month from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., according to city officials.

HazToGo accepts several items, like pesticides, lawn chemicals, paint thinners and pool cleaning chemicals. A full list of accepted items can be found on the city’s website .

About 3,500 households use HazToGo annually, the city said.

From 2023 to 2024, over 144,5000 pounds of hazardous waste were diverted from Lincoln’s Bluff Road Landfill.
