The Joplin Recycling Center is holding a free tire drop-off from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 7, at the Old Lone Elm Plant, 2214 N. Lone Elm Road.

“The city moved the drop-off to the North Lone Elm site to accommodate more space for this very popular collection,” Scott Patterson, recycling coordinator, said in a statement. “Last year, this event drew 110 vehicles, collected 12.6 tons of tires, along with a quarter ton of aluminum rims and three and a half tons of steel rims. That’s a lot of tires, and we were pleased to get these so they could be disposed of properly.” ×
