CARSON CITY, Nev. (KOLO) - A bill that would rework how parole for youth offenders is being considered by the Nevada State Legislature.
Assembly Bill 91 would allow for a second look at certain crimes committed by those under the age of 25.
“AB91 would allow individuals who are serving longer sentences, usually for A and B felonies to come back before the board and say here’s what I have done to rehabilitate myself, here’s my plan for release into the community,” said Washoe County Public Defender Evelyn Grosenick.
Washoe County DA Chris Hicks is the President of the Nevada District Attorney’s Association, who has taken a position against AB91.
“In a nutshell, it gives murderers, child molesters, rapists, violent criminals, drug traffickers, the opportunity to seek release from prison
