Utah Highway Patrol is using a close call that took place on Highway 40 as a reminder to travelers of Utah’s Move Over and Slow Down law. “A trooper was working a crash scene on the side of SR-40 when a driver, tailing too close to the vehicle ahead, didn’t have time to react,” shares UHP. “Despite another patrol car parked well behind with emergency lights flashing, the driver failed to slow down and had to swerve at the last second, barely missing the trooper. This is why Utah’s Move Over and Slow Down law exists. This is why following distance matters. When you ignore both, you put lives at risk.” All drivers are urged to increase following distance and to give emergency responders and officers space.
