SANTA ROSA COUNTY, Fla. - Deputies in Florida said they were able to rescue a kidnapped woman after she left a handwritten note in a local sandwich shop.

The backstory:

The Santa Rosa County Sheriff's Office on its Facebook page said last month, deputies arrived at a business in Navarre regarding a suspicious note found and reported by an employee.

According to PEOPLE , the note was left at a Jersey Mike's Subs and included a plea for help and a nearby address.

Authorities said the note was written by the woman, and she indicated that she was being held against her will and feared for her life.
