EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEVV) — A dad was arrested in Evansville after a break-in that happened overnight on Tuesday, according to police.

Officers responded to a 911 call for a break-in on Corregidor Circle around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Police said the victim reported that her child's father, Jyeon Chambers, had broken in while she slept, assaulted her, locked her out, and was under the influence.

Officers say they arrived and found Chambers outside, carrying the small child.

Police say they ordered Chambers to hand the child over and returned it to the victim.

Chambers told police he had a "couple" alcoholic drinks before arriving at the victim's home, and said he lives in Henderson, Kentucky, according to EPD.
