MINOT, ND (KXNET) — A fire yesterday afternoon at a hotel in Minot caused an evacuation as firefighters cleared the smoke.

According to the Minot Fire Department, on Monday, June 2 at about 3:22 p.m., crews responded to a fire in Baymont Hotel in southwest Minot. The fire was reportedly located in a storage room.

When crews arrived, they saw the building's sprinkler system had successfully extinguished the flames. Firefighters searched the hotel to confirm that all occupants had evacuated, and began ventilation efforts to clear the smoke.

Guests were informed that they would not be able to stay in the hotel until necessary repairs are finished and the building is inspected. Crews helped guests get their personal belongings.
