MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WTVF/CNN Newsource/WKRC) - A runaway pet zebra became the talk of the town and the internet after it appeared on security camera recordings and caused a highway closure.

According to local outlet WTVF, a pet zebra escaped its enclosure on Saturday, causing quite a stir for locals.

"Kind of confused as to why there's a zebra walking along the interstate," a local barber said. "Everybody's just getting a hoot out of it."

The zebra's adventure took it from its home in the town of Christiana to the streets of Murfreesboro and eventually onto the highway, where authorities had to close a stretch of the road in an attempt to wrangle the animal.
