AS summer rolls around, people will put power strips to the test by plugging in multiple devices to keep their homes running.
However, while the strips can handle some devices , there are others that users should avoid plugging into them.
It’s always better to steer clear of plugging in electronics that are constantly running or any that could get wet.
Electrical malfunctions, including those caused by power strips, are responsible for nearly 51,000 home fires each year, according to the U.S. Fire Administration.
Around 500 lives on average are lost as a result of these fires, and over 1,400 are injured.
In total, electrical distribution, including power strips , makes up 10% of all house fires.

Power strips are not designed to handle major appliances such as
