TEMPE, Ariz. — The Arizona Department of Transportation announced Tuesday that its years-long reconstruction of the Broadway Curve area is officially complete.
The infrastructure project to expand capacity on Interstate 10 began about four years ago and ADOT has recently finished all major construction work.
ADOT said there are still some crews completing some finishing touches, but all lanes in the 11-mile stretch of the project area have reopened.
The project included adding extra lanes on I-10 between the US 60 and Interstate 17, building new bridges, widening the I-10 bridge over the Salt River and constructing several barrier walls.
ADOT said the improvements were needed since traffic on the freeway is projected to increase by 25% over the next 15 years. The Broadway Curve present
