Georgetown staple Jimmy Vega’s Smokehouse has closed.

Owner James Ramsey has lived in the community since 1989. He opened the restaurant as a food truck and catering business in 2016 before launching it as a brick-and-mortar eatery in 2018 at its previous location, 40120 Industrial Park Circle, Georgetown.

Ramsey relocated the restaurant to downtown on May 26, 2022 .

The restaurant announced its closure in a Facebook post stating, “It’s time to move on to greener pastures.”

“We fought it and pushed it as long as we possibly could and we just could never turn a profit at the new location,” Ramsey said in a phone call with Community Impact .

Ramsey said the restaurant embodied him and that he will continue to carry a deep love for the community.
