MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (WCHS) — Deputies said they have launched a death investigation after construction workers found human remains in a wooded area of Monongalia County.
Detectives responded to an area between Scott Avenue and Smithtown Road in Morgantown Monday where the remains were discovered, according to a news release from the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Office.
The news release said the body has been taken to the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office in Charleston for an autopsy and identification.

Deputies reported receiving assistance on scene from Mon EMS, MECCA Emergency Management, Morgantown police, the Clinton Volunteer Fire Department and Triton Construction.
