ECTOR COUNTY, Texas (KMID/KPEJ)- The small community of Pleasant Farms, in Ector County, was hit hard by a storm early Tuesday morning, leaving many destroyed homes and downed powerlines in its wake. Now, one resident is speaking out about what she and her husband experienced.
The storm struck around 2:00 a.m. on June 3, and while the National Weather Service has not yet determined if it was a tornado or just strong winds, the result was the same: flattened mobile homes, toppled RVs, damaged vehicles, and downed trees and powerlines. Pleasant Farms resident, Maricruc Candia, said she and her husband were sound asleep when everything changed.
"We were in bed, we were asleep and all of a sudden...we started feeling it (their home) tumble, rolling over," she said.
