BELLAIRE, OH (WTRF) - The Village of Bellaire is holding a meeting to help residents understand more about leasing of their mineral rights.

Council members recently approved a measure to discuss oil and gas leasing possibilities with Utica Landowners Group LLC. They say the goal is to negotiate the best agreement for the village.

The company plans to horizontally drill under sections of the community.

Mayor Ed Marling is encouraging property owners to attend so they can learn more about the leases being offered and how to negotiate favorable terms.
