MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - The 18-year-old accused of murdering two Memphis high schoolers in late April will remain at the Shelby County Jail without bond.

The Shelby County District Attorney’s Office says that Valdemar Patterson appeared in court for a preliminary hearing on Tuesday.

Patterson is charged with two counts of first-degree murder in the April 24 shooting deaths of two students of Booker T. Washington High School.

The DA’s office has identified the victims as 17-year-old Christian Brown and 18-year-old Darrius Wadley.

Patterson’s defense team requested bond on Tuesday, but Assistant District Attorney William Walsh reportedly argued against it, citing public safety concerns and the gravity of his charges.
