NICHOLAS COUNTY, W.Va. (WCHS) — An Indiana man accused of attempting to kill a trial witness was apprehended in West Virginia Monday evening, federal investigators said.

Marvin Starcher, 56, of Garrett – who had warrants out of Indiana for attempted murder, aggravated assault, kidnapping, intimidation and criminal confinement – was arrested after a stolen vehicle was pulled over along Route 16 near the Nicholas-Fayette County line, according to a news release from U.S. Marshals.

The news release said Starcher failed to appear in a DeKalb County trial on gun and drug distribution charges.

Investigators said Starcher is accused of kidnapping and stabbing a trial witness, leaving the witness on a rural roadside and stealing their vehicle to flee the area.
