CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WCHS) — Gov. Patrick Morrisey’s Office announced more than a dozen staffing changes Tuesday, including multiple appointments in the Department of Homeland Security.

Douglas Buffington II was named acting secretary for the department effective immediately. Buffington currently serves as a senior advisor to the governor and previously at a chief deputy attorney general, also under Morrisey.

James Canaday has been appointed as the deputy secretary. Canaday currently works as a liaison with the West Virginia Governor’s Highway Safety Program and has more than 20 years of experience as a law enforcement officer in Raleigh County.
