EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - A local Latino group is offering high school student some hand on learning.
This week HOLA is hosting a STEM camp at Ivy Tech in Evansville.
HOLA is a local non-profit organization aimed at promoting cultural diversity and inclusion of Latinos in the community.
Kids from the non-profit were invited to the engineering lab to build robots.
Once they finish building them, they will be able to program them to move around.
Donna Zimmerman is a department chair at Ivy Tech and she shared why this experience is great for students interested in engineering.
“When people are working on something and they have that ‘A-HA’ moment, ‘I get this, I see how it all works together, I just created something,’ seeing that is amazing,” she stated.
