A 41-year-old Troy man died at a local hospital after an officer involved shooting near a Shelby Township coffee shop Tuesday afternoon.
According to a Shelby Township Police Department press release, an officer conducted a traffic stop on a white Dodge Caravan near Van Dyke Avenue and 22 Mile road at approximately 3:17 p.m.
During the course of the traffic stop the sole occupant of the vehicle, a 41-year-old Troy man, exited the vehicle and fled south bound on foot.
The officer pursued the suspect that led him to go behind the businesses in the area near The Hot Spot Coffee Company and allegedly gave commands to the suspect to stop before deploying a taser.
