A K-9 named Lambo is the newest member of Oklahoma’s Task Force 1. Lambo and his handler, Jeff Leon, will respond to emergencies across the country, like tornadoes and hurricanes, for search and rescue efforts.
"Without these dogs and their handlers, we would not be able to go home and sleep well at night knowing we didn't search every structure and know that we left no one behind,” Matt Bell, Program Manager of Oklahoma Task Force 1, said.
It took the Belgian Malinois and Leon more than a year of hard work to become certified. Leon says having a dog like Lambo in a disaster zone is incredibly valuable.
"We have all the tools to do that, but with these guys, we can get done a lot faster,” Leon said. “I mean minutes, and that can mean you can save a life or not."
