CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WCHS) — A Kanawha County woman faces up to a decade in prison following a 2023 DUI crash that injured a passenger, according to prosecutors.

Hayley Raine Lewis, 26, of St. Albans pleaded guilty Tuesday to DUI causing serious bodily injury, according to a news release from the Kanawha County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.

The news release said in December 2023, deputies responded to a single-vehicle crash near Hudson Valley Drive in Charleston to find a car had wrecked into a utility pole. Lewis, along with a passenger, were unresponsive and taken to a nearby hospital.

Investigators said Lewis was under the influence of a controlled substance at the time of the wreck and there was no evidence she tried to avoid the crash.
