The White House budget office on Tuesday urged Congress to cancel more than $9 billion in funding for global health and for public radio and TV stations, as President Donald Trump attempts to assert more control over congressional spending authority. The proposal, sent to lawmakers by White House budget director and key policy architect Russell Vought, asks Congress to “rescind,” or repeal, $8.3 billion in foreign aid and more than $1 billion from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB), which supports NPR and PBS.
