MONTGOMERY — A Lycoming County township with a population of just under 500 had $5.8 million invested at the end of 2024, with nothing to spend it on.
“What do we have to spend it on?” Brady Township secretary Tracie Blaker asked on Tuesday.
All the roads, which total 5.4 miles, are paved, and the only employee is a part-time laborer. The supervisors plow the roads after a snowstorm and get paid extra for doing it.
The township has no schools, bridges or parks, and with the exception of an industrial plant along Route 15, its businesses are those run out of homes, she noted.
“Frugal” is the term both she and her predecessor, Linda Bower, use to describe how the supervisors over the years have controlled expenditures.
