6:57 p.m. UPDATE: The victim has been identified as 71-year-old Blaine Almhjeld. The suspect is Blaine's son, 47-year-old Troy Almhjeld. The two lived together in a Mapleton apartment.

Troy remains in custody pending a referral to the Blue Earth County Attorney's Office to consider charges including second-degree murder.

MAPLETON, Minn. – One person has been arrested after the discovery of an apparent homicide victim in Blue Earth County.

A report came in around 2:11 am Tuesday to the Blue Earth County Sheriff’s Office of a vehicle off the road on Highway 22, south of the Terrace View Golf Court. The caller said the driver left the vehicle and was walking north on Highway 22 but deputies and state troopers could not find anyone.
